REMEMBER TO:

  • make sure the metal is really clean (a patchy black means it is not clean enough)
  • Keep solution up to strength
  • Keep solution > 15 ’ C
  • Don’t overblack (if this has happened, wipe off smut before immersing into oil)

REMEMBER TO:

  • Install a grill in the bottom of the tank
  • Drain off displaced water
  • Keep a separate basket for the oil tank or degrease the basket after use
  • Allow enough time in the oil for water to be shed from the black surface
  • Agitate small items
  • Rotate those with complicated shapes
  • Top up regularly
  • Replace lids when not in use
  • Allow components to dry before handling
  • Don’t allow oil to be wiped off component.
