USE: Use as supplied or 50% solution in water.
APPLICATION: Rust and scale can
be removed by immersion in 50% solution of Blackfast 513
in water for 10 minutes. Use of undiluted Blackfast 513
or immersion for a longer period may be necessary for
scale on hardened steels. When heavy rust and scaling
are present, it is important to maintain the strength
of the pickle bath by periodic replenishment of Blackfast
513. Addition of a surfactant, Blackfast 500, may be necessary
if some extra degreasing is required. Ensure rinsing is
sufficient to remove all traces of Blackfast 513 before
proceeding further.
Blackfast 513 should not be used for
cast iron components because it penetrates the surface
too deeply and is very difficult to rinse clean. Blackfast
505 should be used for cast iron.
TANK MATERIAL: Tanks should be
of suitable polypropylene.
Blackfast 513 acid pickle medium is
part of the Blackfast range of products for the chemical
blacking of iron and steel at room temperature.
Blackfast Chemicals continues to improve
the quality and performance of its range of products and
reserves the right to modify product formulations without
prior notice.
